(83,669 posts)For us and our blue wave votes. For the candidates that fought tirelessly for us all. For a Democratic America that won.
We have a congress and we are colorful and a bright light for our future. Women ruled.

(67,782 posts)...republicans were almost sleep walking, including their new members. Democrats were refreshingly excited and PROUD to be new members of Congress, and the more experienced members were just as excited as the freshmen.

(83,669 posts)I think it was you that commented here about the differences on each side of the aisle.
Right: Suits. Very white. Uptight. Humorless.
Left: Bright Lights. Laughter. Color. Dynamic. Diverse. Children...so many sweet animated children. Our Future.
What a fine day it was.

You are so right.
Your name, moniker here...pretty appropriate for today. She is the First Speaker today!

(33,271 posts)That's what you get when you let women run things.
Next thing you know, they'll be voting on stuff they didn't see first on Fox.
What's this country coming to?

Thanks. How sweet it is to be able to crack jokes and have a belly laugh. It has been way to long and dammit it felt good.

(33,271 posts)It's amazing how much tension melted away today. The midterms were a gigantic relief, but today made it -real-.
If you haven't seen it yet, highly recommend the photos:

(18,478 posts)The 14th Amendment was passed in 1868.
The 19th Amendment was passed in 1920.
The last state to allow Native Americans to vote was Utah in 1957.
Reservation residents in North Dakota are still fighting a voter ID law.
I'm happy for these two and I will watch for their wisdom and insight.

(42,862 posts)I saw that! It warmed my heart! Honestly, Sharice Davids deserves more attention that others. I can tell that Sharice Davids is someone who will take the responsibility seriously and will do everything she can to represent her constituents with DIGNITY and HONOR.
She's always very humble and sincere whenever I've watched her in TV interviews. She doesn't strike me as the type of person who places value in "grandstanding" or getting into immature trolling or tit-for-tat bickering arguments.
It's clear to me that she's exceedingly intelligent, but even so... she's NOT one of those people who thinks she knows-it-all. I guess that comes back to what I said earlier about how she's humble and grateful for the opportunity.
Clearly she sees it as an opportunity to SERVE, not one to benefit personally or "make a name for herself" by unnecessary showboating.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this: she's someone that I instantly admire and I believe that the rest of the freshman class of representatives can learn something from her.
