I'm surprised how hopeful today's events are making me feel...

...watching our politics is enough to make anyone a cynic. We have the utterly corrupt GOP, an increasingly useless courtier media class, and evidence every day of the depravity of all-too-great a chunk of the American people. But today...you know, I really think something *has* changed. Something good, that will survive the inevitable disappointments and failures of the real world and the responsibilities that come with managing it. I'm beginning to feel that the reactionaries can't win, not only in the long run but even in the not-so-long run. We saw America on the floor of Congress today, and the White Male Caucus can't keep it down.
