Abby Huntsman just said unemployment is up because people are quitting their jobs to.....

find BETTER PAYING jobs because there are SO MANY better paying jobs, out there!?!?!?!?

Ok, even if this is true, in my universe I look for a better paying job while I still have my lesser paying one. You know - just to hedge my bets.

What they call “frictional unemployment” is bound to increase as people perceive a stronger jobs market. I’d say that it’s just as likely that some of the added unemployment is also people reentering the market.

We’ll see whether that lasts in the face of the market pullback over the last couple months.

On the individual level, of course you’re correct. Don’t leave an “acceptable” job without having the better one locked up. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen.

In the real world, ya keep the job you are on, search and apply for a better paying and hopefully one will at least call you in for an interview, they like you, and hire you.

Give to two weeks notice (don't burn bridges).

That is the way reality does it.

3. The unemployment figure

is based upon numbers of individuals requesting unemployment assistance within a period of time. Therefore, it is not possible that the unemployment figure includes people "who quit their job to get a higher paying job" because you can't get unemployment benefits under that scenario. If the jobs market is so strong, those quitting their jobs wouldn't have to look long for that supposed "other job that pays better". This is just a nonsensical argument with no basis in reality.

She was on this show on MSNBC with Krystal Ball, Ari Melner, Toure, and S.E. Cupp. She was the only one who needed cue cards. The others were always rolling their eyes at her dopey comments. There are two reasons she has a job on tv: 1. She's pretty. 2. Her father is Jon Huntsman.

If people are quitting their jobs for the many better jobs out there, unemployment should stay the same, or even go down since there are so many jobs out there.
