Adam Schiff lays it out for McConnell: Put country before loyalty to POtuS.

Attention Senator McConnell:

It is time to re-open the government.

The House just passed funding bills the Senate already supported. Hundreds of thousands of workers are going without pay.

It is time to put country over loyalty to Trump.

It is time to show leadership.

Rep. Schiff would be a very effective attorney general in a Democratic administration; he is a former assistant US attorney in the Los Angeles district and - among other cases - put away a former FBI agent who was spying for the Soviets for espionage.

He'd also be a hell of an impeachment manager in the House.

I am not sure why no one is talking about a candidacy for Adam Schiff, I think he would be fantastic.

Imagine Schiff and Kamala Harris...I think that would be unbeatable.

A single state ticket would be unusual in the modern era.

Schiff is a formidable individual, but he's never been elected to any post outside of his legislative district; that's a long jump to the presidency and executive authority, and the bedrock lesson of Trump is don't elect an amatuer to the most powerful position in the country.

Can't we call each other and talk about it? Do republicans really back an idiot like tRump? Do republicans listen to him when he speaks? He sounds like a 3rd grader. Surely they can't honestly associate themselves with him. I can't help but laugh when I see tRump speaking before the cameras and seeing Pence and the rest of them standing silently behind him. The reason they don't speak is because it would make tRump seem 10 times as ignorant as he already is. I believe that is why no one speaks to him except to grovel before him. If anyone actually tries to have a logical conversation with him, tRump would be lost a be shown to have no clothes.

Anyway, I rambled. I hate this Twitter thing being our government negotiation tool. It's like throwing insults in study hall...

Twitter is a reality. It is how Trump gets out his message. It is how a lot of young people get their news. Ignoring those facts does not make their reality go away.

Possibly Russian money he took, or something else the Russians found out when they hacked the republicans back in 2016, even though republicans don't want to admit they were hacked.

Mitch knows that if he stood up to trump everything trump has on him would be released, and that would be the end McConnell.

...and in this dysfunctional administration, that is VERY odd. And now my suspicious mind is wondering WTF is her connection to al this?

For example, if Russia has something on McTurtle/Rethugs, then they could have installed Mrs. Turtle to be the unassuming overlord, or pass messages to Dump (such as "go after Montenegro" and "push the line that Russia had to invade Afghanistan because of terrorism threats" etc.)

This is the most heartless, selfish and gop-first over country hack that I have ever seen. His verbal response to President Obama and his agenda, his stealing a SCOTUS seat from the President, and his ignoring the bills from the People’s House are right in line with a political tool. USA be damned! I’m putting party over country.

Maybe Senator Ried was like that as well, and I just didn’t pay attention.

By absenting himself, Mr. McConnell had hoped to push the blame for a prolonged shutdown onto Democrats while protecting Republicans running for re-election in 2020
