(34,977 posts)I see it as being pragmatic. If it doesn't help us win, should we spend time and energy on it?
We had an incredibly dignified and diplomatic person run in 2016, nobody can deny that, nobody can deny how Hillary acts and carries herself is Presidential in itself... but did it help her? Did it bring her into the White House?
Nope, not at all.
Maybe it's time to be rude, crude, and crass.

(34,977 posts)An assortment of some disgusting and racist people.
I'm not sure if using a naughty word is actually equivalent to what Trump has said over the years. Tlaib uses dirty language, but a specific term for a specific person... Trump ran on demonizing 'the other' and using racist dogwhistles.
I think it can be argued it's not a real comparison to make. So I'm not actually sure if we're just doing what Trump did. I see a distinction even though it's rude.

(2,803 posts)Isn't the point more, "Where was your outrage when Trump did it?"
Doesn't say either instance was right. Just questions why the outrage now when there was none then.
But it's all in the framing, innit?

(12,344 posts)This is part of the damage. Political discourse is degraded and more angry on both sides of the aisle. Democrats can't always take the high road if the other side plays dirty. Even if it's the right thing to do, it's contrary to human nature.
