He was an excellent governor - wish he'd just leave it at that.

Have there been any stories about HIS "likeability"?

But I dare not say who ... for obvious reasons. I guess what I'm saying is: I feel your frustration and sympathize, but I also admire your willingness to be so blunt about it.

(I have no feelings about him one way or the other.)

He's good at operations, ran the DNC 2001-2005, worked on Bill & Hillary's C's campaigns.

- The Old Dominion isn't Illinois or Oregon.

Terence Richard McAuliffe (born February 9, 1957) is an American politician and former entrepreneur who served as the 72nd Governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018.[1] He was chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2001 to 2005, was co-chair of President Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign and 1997 Presidential inauguration,[2] and was chair of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_McAuliffe

Many people had the same view of him as you when he was VA gov.

(No wonder I rarely post in here; the print is murder sometimes. Serves me right).

At a national level, and as a pres. candidate, No. Dems. have other choices.

To steal a concept from GoT, the king (or queen, as I think will soon be the case), is only as good as his Hand.

I know we haven't used that term around here since the last Dem Primaries, and I don't necessarily want to start that decisive bullshit back up, but I still think Howard Dean was correct:
First, get Democrats elected. Then, get BETTER Democrats elected.
Terry is among the first, generally speaking.

Perhaps he should focus group his "slickness" and learn to project a more "everyman" appeal, like Trump.

As governor of Virginia, McAuliffe issued a record number of vetoes, mainly regarding bills that negatively impacted women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, the environment and voting rights. He also helped deliver Virginia for Hillary in 2016.

THAT'S what a Democratic governor who knows the ropes can accomplish. They all should be so slick.

I have been impressed with what I have seen of him so far. It looks like maybe someone has worked on him with his media presence. Politically, he looks like he really knows what he is doing. It looks like he really was a good governor.
