Re: "Emergency powers": Should we be worried? For some reason I think we should be worried?

.....Maybe we should be worried?

I dunno. The Madman says such crazy stuff all the time and half of the time it means nothing in the end.

But the other half of the time....I mean, the guy claimed he was going to separate families at the border. And as crazy as it sounds, that’s exactly what he did.

So should the Madman bandying around the words “emergency powers” cause us to take pause and notice?

Or is it just Trumpian bullshit?

.

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) explained that Congress appropriates the funds, even in an emergency, so Trump can’t get any money for his wall without congressional approval.

James Lankford said on MSNBC’s MTP Daily, “I’m going to have to see where that authority is coming from. Obviously congress delegates those funds and appropriates funds specifically for specific purposes. The president does have some reprogramming authority. That typically has to come back to Congress to get additional approval on. He is very passionate about this as an emergency, this needs to be resolved.”

We're bombarded with so much insanity from the WH chaos, a little clarity goes a long way for me! It reminds me that there are people who will simply not let martial law happen in this case.

If the Dems continue to hold fast with 'no wall' and Trump is backed further into a corner - I fear that the Hannity's, Limbaugh's, Coulter's and Ingraham's will telegraph to Trump that he doesn't need the Dems to keep his promise of the wall - that he could do it himself.

Remember the last time they embarrassed Trump on the wall. That led to the current shutdown. He's easily had by those Conservative mouthpieces - and I fear he will cave to them and invoke the Emergency Power.

Sure, he can order the wall to be built, but he can’t order money to be appropriated to pay for it. Such funding would have to come from Congress (including the Democratic House). Otherwise, if Donnie wants his wall so bad, he’s going to have to figure out how to cut $5.8 billion from existing defense funding.

He is insane.

His cult is insane.

The politicians that support him are insane.

All of them are evil and insane.

They are the greatest threat this country has ever faced.

made the presidency a powerful office, and Trump is only starting to figure out what powers he has.

Clearly, he relishes the pardon power, he has yet to use the veto power, and I'm afraid that he will overuse it for the next two years.

That is moving strongly into authoritarian territory. Calling a fake emergency about border incursions is basically how Hitler started WWII in Europe (Japan had been fighting WWII in the Pacific/Asia theater since the mid 30's).
