What he doesn't realize is that it's over if he doesn't give in.

There is no requirement the SOTU be given in person, nor on live TV. They could invite him to send it to Congress in writing instead, right?

And his request that all networks air a primetime address by him tomorrow are damn scary.

I believe he's going to declare a national emergency tomorrow. I hope Dems are prepared for what's coming

and everyone knows it. He's dumb enough to think people not getting paid won't matter that much, that landlords and banks will go easy on late rent and mortgage payments.

That won't happen, and people going hungry from reduced SNAP benefits
won't stay quiet, not to mention all the contract workers who know they won't get back pay like actual federal workers will.

It'll start getting nasty after the next missed paycheck on or about the 15th.

Every one of them. If that doesn't wake Mitch McConnell up - cleaning his own toilet - I don't know what will. These poor people are being held hostage in a giant game of dumb. I bet a whole lot of them will say fuck it and look for work elsewhere anyway. There's a debt ceiling "crisis" coming up and if this is resolved it could happen again and again and again. The toddler has got to be removed from office.

Poor people won't get food stamps, but that also affects agribusiness and grocery stores.
The longer parks and museums are closed, the more people will be affected
The SBA isn't making loans.
As more essential and unpaid govt workers miss checks, work will slow down and sick days will be taken.
Powerful lobbyists will begin to demand the govt reopen.

We're already teetering. When more and more Trumpeteers suddenly aren't getting paid, can't feed their families, can't get their medicines, can't file their taxes, and are facing eviction - and then are told by the A-hole in Chief that no matter what, he's standing firm for the Wall because this was what they elected him for, it's not going to end well for the GOP.

It's easy for the Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world to pound on the Bully Pulpit; they're well off.
When the food pantries run dry and families are getting their 30 day notices, it's a whole different environment.

Honestly, I suspect this whole situation is a delay to dismantle as much of the New Deal as possible before the Law catches up with the Federalist Oligarch-wanna be's.
It's not just the Murdochs, Kochs, Mercers, and Adlestains, it's the petty-feudalist politicians - from McConnell to the local sheriffs and county Commissioners. And the poor saps who elect a-holes like this want to think they're able to wander in the same circles as these gangsters?
These a-holes have gone through life knowing they're rich enough (or connected enought) they can scoot out of prison or hole up in their private little compounds for decades while the Government tries to patch itself back up - especially since they've been starving and poisoning the Judiciary for the past 10 years with their privileged little hell-spawn.
And they get all the help they can from fellow International Mobsters.

Trump declaring a National Emergency will just keep the spotlight focused on him while they play their games in his shadow.
