My retired, long-time Democrat, aunt: "This time we're finding us an old white male."

"We tried to get a woman in there and it didn't work. We're getting us a whiiiiite male."

Granted, she spoke with a tone of resignation in her voice. She is a Hillary fan but it seems like she has simply given up.

It is a sentiment I strongly disagree with but I fear is more common than one would think amongst casual voters, who are not part of the "activist base" (political junkies).

There is a lot of talk of "white males" that loses focus of the most important thing... The best candidate for the job regardless of race and gender.

Quite frankly I find it exhausting that we have been baited i to narrowing down our field of potential candidates to something so incredibly narrow.

someone other than a white male ran. Simple. Who defines "best" in this case?

I will vote dem no matter who the Prez/VP candidates are, but if there isn't a woman on the ticket, it will confirm what I've thought about the party, that they are fearful of acting with boldness. We showed last election that a woman can win - did win. Build on that instead of going backwards. Get every new voter from 2018 back to the polls in 2020 & work on getting as many non-voters to the polls as possible. Forget the independents & disaffected republicans. They will never be loyal to our party's values over the long haul.

Candidates run, primary voters vote. People like you and me get out the vote for the candidate we support. So if you and I want one of the women who will be running in the primary, we need to volunteer for our candidate, knock doors and convince our fellow primary voters to come and vote for her.

Our biggest problem right now is the vacuum of leadership on the presidential race.

that nikki haley will be on the republican ticket.

she may be a token, but will peel off quite a few women voters.
