What did Morning Joe have to say about the prez's speech and Dem rebuttal?

Any relevant clips?

Who were guests? I would think they'd have presidential historian Jon Meacham on for some relevant past history (if there is any with this guy in the WH).

I overslept as usual...

He just added "shining" to it. Joan Baez recorded "Twelve Gates into the City" decades ago, and she wasn't quoting Reagan. Pilgrims to the Colonies hoped this land would be the New Jerusalem, as did many who followed.

Funny thing about literature: the King James Bible used to be a common reference point for nearly everyone in the English-speaking world. Not so much any more.

Our language was permeated with both King James and Shakespeare, to the point that many no longer know where certain sayings and turns of phrase originated.

The Winthrop Fleet brought hundreds of immigrants to America with high hopes. I think Winthrop's was the most famous reference in America until Reagan added "shining" as his campaign slogan.

The Reagan amnesty program that allowed some long time undocumented immigrants to provide documentation of their work history and obtain citizenship was the only decent thing I can recall about the Reagan presidency.

but Meacham was waxing so poetic about him was ridiculous and when he and Scarborough get started on Reagan you'd think he walked on water instead of being the instigator for what we are going through now

last night was just a terrible acting job. A boring display of what trump thinks being presidential means.
