But apparently it can't handle the "diseases" of a 5 year old child crossing the border.
Who knew, right?

(65,218 posts)illness in cramped conditions, without sufficient health monitoring, whose illness is brushed off in Emergency Room triage style, isn't going to be permitted access to the best healthcare--just as the uninsured and underinsured are not.

(6,261 posts)The WHO rates it somewhere like 49th in the world, with health outcomes and life expectancy that are middling at best by developed world standards despite the enormous cost.
In part this is because of overmedication and overtreatment, ironically, but also because of the stress of having to fight your insurance company which will routinely deny treatment when you're least able to fight it.

(6,261 posts)But then you'd have to compare it to the healthcare received by the very wealthy in other countries who can afford to do everything privately as well, and I don't know if that would tell us much.

(35,038 posts)The Titanic IS an awesome ship... as long as you ignore the fact that it's underwater.
We should be running with this... if kids, even if they are sneezing, can topple our healthcare system, then maybe it's not the greatest system, right?

(35,038 posts)On one hand, I hear we have an awesome healthcare system, in 2017, we even saw a bill called "World's Greatest Healthcare Plan".
Now I hear from people, Trump supporters, that they're afraid of immigrants because they'll supposedly bring "diseases" over into the US.
And I'm trying to say concern about "diseases" shouldn't even be an issue because we have this neat and cool healthcare system, supposedly, right?
To me, it's THIS that doesn't make much sense... We don't have a superior healthcare system if it can be defeated by toddlers producing mucus.

(63,798 posts)"We" are they talking about themselves??? you know they don't give a shit about ordinary citizens who they don't feel the average American should not be entitled to healthcare which is a right.

(82,849 posts)When Republicans say "we," they don't mean "We Americans" or "We the People." The "we" in this case is a very narrow subset, and if you have to ask who's in it, you aren't.

(63,798 posts)very low opinion of the American people, we all saw it during the illegal hearings of Kavanot. Repigs wanted to muzzle and not listen to the facts and true stories from victims who were abused in their lives. Two people come to mind Orin Hatch and McConnell.
