The lawsuits alone will keep a shovel from touching the ground. Even if by some miracle, tRump gets his way it will not happen while he's in office. The litigation will take years. The Dems know this and will not allow even one dime to towards an antiquated wall that will not work and will never get built in the first place.
If this was so urgent, it would have happened two years ago.
It's why nobody is buying tRump's shtick.

(45,771 posts)They could have taken the easy way out, voting for the funds and letting the government re-open (maybe) and confidently expecting it to be declared unconstitutional after years of litigation.
But they took a stand, unified. Not to stick it to Trump, although he does deserve it. But for their promises to the voters who made them the majority party in the House.

(31,011 posts)Thinking pragmatically, it would cost a lot of money to litigate the lawsuits as well.
It's a fruitless effort no matter which way you look at it. This wall is never going to be built and everyone knows it.
Plus, I think tRump shouldn't be allowed to to demagogue the issue and keep the illusion going either.
