A simple reason why fighting for the "WALL" is the stupidest idea Trump has ever had..

Reason is very simple: "The Wall" is not necessary. Trump says it must be built, and that is a "HUGE LIE"

..But all, yes "ALL OF US" know it is not necessary, no matter what Mr. Trump says. How can that be true? What proof do you have?.. Isn't "The Wall" something we must have, and must be built now as Mr. Trump says?

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Here is the proof: This country has existed as a nation since 1776, that is over 240 years ....without "A Wall" ... along the southern border. While our country is not perfect, and our defenses are not perfect; "The Wall" is not the most important item. It is not even an important item..(except to Mr. Trump). "The Wall" is not worth shutting the federal government down for..Is it?

Here is a comparison to think about. Let's say the U.S. Navy said we must have another "Aircraft Carrier" in order to keep the nation safe. Why some people would ask? Because the latest and greatest aircraft carrier is absolutely necessary for our safety. Now, everyone, yes everyone would know that the idea of the "greatest aircraft carrier" is a lie. How do we know? Because we already have a few of them.. Why is the latest one absolutely necessary for our nation's safety? That is why everyone understands the truth about "THE WALL"

Trump has made a terrible, stupid mistake. He has bet his entire presidency on an unimportant idea: "THE WALL" Quite stupid.....

..Let's say he bet everything on providing food for very poor families who are running out of money right now. And everyone understood that there is a crisis and there is not enough money to fund the food stamp program this week, and people are starving right now... The media was reporting that thousands of people were starving to death "RIGHT NOW". Then, an emergency allocation for food or food stamps would be necessary. Or some kind of program to feed those starving right now. That would be necessary and obvious.

..But this stupid "WALL" obviously is ..NOT NECESSARY and EVERYONE KNOWS IT.. How do we all know? Paragraph 3. "This country has existed more than 240 years without a wall along the southern border. "
It really is that simple.

He was fit to be tied. His orange face was a ghastly red. Calling Republicans "my people ".

Just wait until his people start to abandon him.

3. I agree. Some of "his people" will abandon him on the particular stupid idea.

..This idea is so stupid. Trump has picked a fight on another aircraft carrier. Or adding another room in the White House. So stupid that everyone understands. And everyone does understand except Mr. Trump. This is the wrong idea to put all your marbles, and all your money, and all your integrity, and all your validity on. Or all of whatever you want to add. This is stupid beyond stupid. What else is there to say? Yes, some of his people will abandon him because it is so obviously stupid.

..Some will never abandon him. Maybe 20 to 25 percent of the population will not abandon Mr. Trump. But the rest will, because this is so obviously ..."STUPID" !!!!!!!

..And my guess he has already been told this, by his closest friends and advisors. But he "knows it all" and he will not change his mind. Too stupid to see the real truth: This ideal is TOTALLY STUPID

2. The Wall is all that Trump has ... for his base.

This is about two things, Trump not losing, and Trump delivering one tangible campaign promise to his racist base. Funny thing is that the economy appears to be doing well (even though the fundamentals are President Obama's) Trump would get credit for that. Republicans, if the economy holds out, should be okay in 2020. However, Mueller is closing in and it appears that he has a pretty solid case against the administration. Trump needs The Wall to keep his people in their bubble. If they have The Wall to cling to they maybe can ignore what will be happening around Trump soon.

It wasn't really a gamble, it was all he really had that was actually his.

4. The cracks in Trump's Wall are beginning to show.....

Because Congressional Republicans are going to dessert him in the House as well as in the Senate. The Wall is the only thing he has to deliver to his dwindling base . He loses that, he is basically done.

He will lose the Coulter's, Limbaugh's, and Ingraham's of the world and he will be a lame duck for the next 2 years.

Even his "people" know it is not necessary. It might work for a while, but only a while. Some will always stay with him. But I do not think that all will stay with him. It really is a stupid idea to fight over this "WALL"

I agree. There are people within his base who only want to hear about White Supremacy and Christian Dominionism. They will go down with the ship.

I have said repeatedly on the forum, "the one thing that we can always count in is Republican overreach". The smart Republicans know that they represent a small group of very powerful people, and then have this larger base of people they can fool into voting on emotionally charged issues. They are the ones who have used the "coded language" and who appear reasonable. The problem is that with the shrinking actual base and the strategy of gerrymandering and voter suppression, the Republicans have painted themselves into a corner. They are stuck with politicians who supposedly reflect the extreme base of their gerrymandered districts.

They cannot pull "moderates" or purple Democrats to their side realistically so they have to play to their base. Trump is the logical end of making a coalition with extremists and now, I am not sure what they do to extricate themselves from him.

The idealistic side of me hopes that this will put the Republicans back into the same wilderness that they were in from the 30's to the 80's when they were may have won elections but never held solid power. Hopefully we can fix the damage they have done to the nation over the last 30+ years.

6. I can not agree that we don't need a wall because we have not had one for 240 years.

That said, we don't need a wall. The number of illegal immigrants in the US has been decreasing for at least 5 years. Most illegal immigrants enter the US legally in visas and then stay here. That is, more illegal immigrants are leaving the US than are entering. Per capita, illegal immigrants commit fewer felonies than citizens. The US border with Mexico is about 2,000 miles. The US borders totally, land and sea, are about 20,000 miles. Drugs do come in from Mexico. Most of them come in through legal entry ports. More come in by plane. More even by boat. Only 25% of shipments are caught and that is only what we know of. What we do not know of is how much more comes in by boat. Trump told us why he wants the wall built. He said he would be embarrassed if the wall was not built. I have heard some pretty lame reasons for doing something and that is way at the top.

knows that it will get much worse. In my opinion much more embarrassment is on the way. Much more. More than Mr. Trump can possibly imagine.
