Lauren Underwood is an inspiring new Member of Congress. But a post about her gets nothing but crickets?

New members always come into Washington convinced they can change the place and Underwood is no stranger. She was a congressional intern just 13 years ago and she's a former Obama administration official, who helped implement the Affordable Care Act.
As a registered nurse and someone with a pre-existing condition, health care the topic at the top of most voters minds is also on hers.
"It's very clear health care is the number one issue in this election. Driven primarily around affordability. I think we need to quickly show the American people that we are serious about fixing the health care system," Underwood said.

However:
Naperville resident says he'll challenge Rep. Lauren Underwood in 2020
Matt Quigley, a Republican from Naperville, has announced he plans to challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood in the 2020 election.
Quigley made the announcement last week at a news conference in Will County the day after Underwood was sworn in as the youngest black woman to serve in the U.S. House. She unseated U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgen as the representative for District 14.
The Naperville resident bills himself as a former naval officer and serial entrepreneur dedicated to ensuring that others have the opportunity and tools to define and create their own success, according to his campaign website.
Quigley has not previously held public office.

(296,893 posts)11. If he's a repub in this era then he's
full of gaslighting shite.
She already unseated a four term repub with 52%. It's Blue Wave Time.. too many sane people sick of trump.
Lauren has 2 years to show how excellent she is for her District 14 in Illinois

and probably a lot of people to this amazing young woman. With work and an aging mother I don't get as much chance to study the up and comers as I want to so I really appreciate this.
