They deserve the shame as well, IMO. Unfortunately, censoring King might have the opposite effect and cause them to rally around him.

as always, you've got to get the votes. I believe that the House could throw him out, too, but that's obviously even harder to do. Censuring does have certain penalties and loss of some congressional privileges and positions.

But, do we really want to punish people for nasty talk? That's the sort of thing that is questionable and could come back to bite us in the ass. Censure and/or expulsion should be reserved for seriously bad acts, not just bad attitudes.

A House member does not answer to us, but to his or her constituents. If they choose to vote in an asshole, the rest of us are stuck with him or her.
