BREAKING: Rep. Tulsi Gabbard running for President in 2020

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/11/politics/tulsi-gabbard-van-jones/index.html

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said Friday she will run for president in 2020.

"I have decided to run and will be making a formal announcement within the next week," the Hawaii Democrat told CNN's Van Jones during an interview slated to air at 7 p.m. Saturday on CNN's "The Van Jones Show."
Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran, currently serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She is the first American Samoan and the first Hindu member of Congress.

it looks like you can run for 2 offices in Hawaii.

Can You Run for Congress and President? Depends Where

Hawaii, where Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is reportedly considering a run for president, is among several states that allow carve-outs for would-be presidents or vice presidents but otherwise prohibit running simultaneously for more than one office. Those exceptions are often called LBJ laws after the normally restrictive Texas changed its laws in 1959 to allow Lyndon B. Johnson to seek both the vice presidency and re-election to his Senate seat.

post I researched it.. and, anyone can run for POTUS and Congress at the same time in Hawaii.

But.. since she is running for potus she will be nationally Vetted. It won't be like here where she won't even debate her opponents.

And, now she's attacked Mazie Hirono and Kamala Harris..

Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard accuses fellow Democrats of 'religious bigotry' in questioning judicial nominee

Hirono’s office responded Wednesday that Gabbard was mischaracterizing her questioning of Buescher, and that the senator was voicing her concerns about the nominee’s past public statements rather than his religion.

“It is unfortunate that Congresswoman Gabbard based her misguided opinion on the far-right wing manipulation of these straightforward questions,” Hirono spokesman Will Dempster said in a statement.

He added that over the past two years, Hirono “has been attacked by right wing ideologues for her examination of Donald Trump’s ideologically-driven nominees to the courts.”

“Senator Hirono asks all judicial nominees — particularly those who have expressed very strong personal ideological views in conflict with Supreme Court precedent — if they can be fair,” Dempster said. “She asked Mr. Buescher, who has a clear record of anti-choice activism, whether he could separate his personal beliefs from decisions he would make if confirmed for a lifetime appointment on the federal bench.”

Senator Kamala Harris was also questioning Buescher.

. . . for the link. I had no idea she made a stink out of that. She is frankly a complete idiot. Great response by Ms. Hirono, no surprise. And of course Gabbard attacks my (home state and favorite overall) senator, too. Oof.

Yeah, I'm sure your research is spot on, and I didn't mean she would have to resign from the House; I was just hoping she would! We talked about this before and I know you realize that I want Hirono to stay in office for a long, long time, but only because Gabbard is so damn young I have to ask - is there anyone who can contend with her when she, inevitably IMO, runs for that seat? A Schatz type maybe, young and dynamic, male or female, but not a blockhead like your esteemed Representative?

I'm also wondering if there are possible ethics violations here with falsely calling out a DEm Senator and AOC's group calling a fellow, sitting Congressperson names.

I think she may be an effective tactician, and she has some potentially powerful issues at her disposal that could serve to highlight ideological polarization. For instance, millions of Democratic primary voters may gravitate to the idea of reducing the US foreign military presence, foreign intervention, etc., which may be at odds with some Democrats’ vision.
