Residents at the tiny border crossing town

Of Bouquillas Del Carmen are suffering during this shutdown. The point of entry is closed.

Nearby locals on the Texas side are organizing and floating Rice, Beans, flour and beer across the Rio Grande to needy residents.

Since the park has been closed, so has the tourism that these residents depend on, this area has always been a friendly crossing point of entry. Residents from both sides of the border often throw BBQ's and dances to the delight of nature loving tourists

I cannot imagine what a wall would do to this are either.. I've been crossing/vacationing here since I was a young child. In fact I have a picture me at 5 years old on a mule exploring the trails with my family and our guide. I'm so saddened by all of this.

There is no news story or link to this, it comes straight from the mouths "friends of Big Bend national Park" a group I proudly belong to.

Just thought I'd share this. Bouquillas is just a magical place... and a gem in West Texas.

I hope Trump doesn't ruin it for all of us.

The magic and beauty of this area is that it literally has not changed in decades. The cantina and the little markets across the border is the same it's been forever! Oh, and the enchiladas are STILL amazing!
