At least Catholics are down with Science. They pretty much say that anything we learn about science expands our understanding of God and how he works. Or something like that. With Catholics it goes way back. Many of the earliest scientific discoveries that brought the Enlightenment were by Catholic priests.

Where at the Evangelical Universities they do not even teach evolution. Believing in it is a sin.

I am from a southern state where a majority of the population goes to fundamentalist churches. In High School once my friends and I learned real science we used to joke that incest was such a problem in our state because they all believed that Noah's son's screwed their sisters so it could not be that bad! A gross adolescent joke, I know, but it does kind of get to their mindset. Because I was taught that in church. Something about them being the only people on earth so it was OK. I truly detest them, and many of them are my people.

You are right about Catholics. Whatever else their flaws are, being anti-science is not one of them. They learned that lesson hundreds of years ago, with Galileo.

From my experience, which I am an example of, when evangelicals get a good science based High School and College or University science education it trumps(pun intended) their parochial education.

Which is why I think here in Florida there is so much juju in the republican controlled legislature for school choice. The republicans are scared to death that kids will learn the difference between superstition and science in high school. In our Charter Schools teachers don’t even need a college degree. Hell, our Lake County rep could not even compete a degree from Liberty University after being home schooled her whole career and is now a player in education policy.

Start attending some non-denominational megachurch, say he's found Jesus, and he will be golden.

I read about this today and have seen some threads about naming those involved, and until I saw the clips I thought don't dox minors. They are kids... In my mind I pictured 13 and 14 years old since im so far from high school age.


When I saw the clips just now I realized these are adults, just about to pass 18 where they have legal consequences for actions. They didn't do anything illegal, but they violated many moral codes of society. The evil in that mans eyes as he tried to stare down an Elder and Vet was chilling.
