My concern was with using fake news tactics to prove the lack of provocation. The poster to whom I was responding asserted that the video posted, which begins AFTER the allegedly provocative incident, proves there was no provocation. If something happens at 10:00 AM, and you have a video that begins at 10:30 AM, the video beginning a half hour after the alleged incident cannot prove anything about whether the incident occurred or not because it does not capture the relevant time frame.

The break was Wednesday on a patch of black ice. Surgery thursday, back home yesterday and moving up and down the split level to the bathroom without assistance. Not bad for 62 - since it too my brother 2 weeks to do the same, with a simpler break at 35. But he's a big baby.

There was no provocation. The boys could have walked on. The boys could have argued back at the 5 idiots, exercising their own right to free speech. There was nothing in the preceding events that could be legitimately construed as provoking 50 near-men to surround Mr. Phillips, who was unrelated to either group, prevent his escape, scream at him, taunt him, insult him and intimidate him.

If we are going to start characterizing hateful free speech as provocation to assaults like the one perpetrated on Mr. Phillips, we may as well hang up the Constitution and give up.
