Mia Love: Trump will lose the presidency if he backs away from border security

Former Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) said Sunday that she believes President Trump will "lose the presidency" if he's unable to secure funding for his proposed wall along the southern border.

"I believe that If the president actually backs away from border security and his border wall, he will lose the presidency and Republicans are going to have a really hard time," Love said on "State of the Union" on CNN.

She suggested that the wall is so critical to Trump that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) should use it as leverage to demand permanent protections for "Dreamers" or immigrants receiving Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or other immigration reforms.

"She can ask for anything and at least start there," Love said.

Currently 57% of those polled say they will not vote for Trump in 2020. Granted that can change by Nov. 2020 but at the rate he's going I doubt it.

Who are his base going to vote for if not Trump? The Democratic nominee?

The Wall is not the reason that Trump will lose the presidency.

And it's so thoughtful of you to give Speaker Pelosi your strategic advice! I'm sure she'll consider your ideas.

Republicans are desperate to co-opt the democrats in funding Trump’s wall.
The GOP absolutely does not want complete credit for such funding.

According to Trump, there are/have been two ways for republicans to approve the wall without votes from the democrats.
He requested that Mitch McConnell use the nuclear option which would have allowed the Senate republicans to pass the $5billion plus that he wants. Mitch refused.
Now, he says he can declare a National Emergency to get the money he wants.
Currently Trump is holding our country hostage with his proud shutdown and falsely blaming the democrats.
He has had two years to get his republican majority Congress to do it under his leadership.
There is no legitimate reason for the American taxpayer to pay for Trump's wall.
One of his foreign policy points is that other countries are taking advantage of America and we are overpaying. .
Now he wants the American taxpayer to pay for Mexico's obligation; 'Mexico will pay for the wall'.
