one gets really spoiled. Bruins, celtics, Red Sox, Patriots - they are always competitive - they can afford to be. Still - when one gets hooked on teams from the time of being a young child, watching games with one's grandfather or father, it goes pretty deep.

What I don't like is when politics gets conflated with sports - sports can sometimes be a nice refuge from politics, especially now.

But...I don't take any of it for granted - there are so many variables, injuries, etc - for me today, this was like a totally unexpected birthday present - I was texting with my brother and pals....a nervous wreck.

It's not even the Trump connection. That would be enough, but to me, he is an asshole and a half without Trump even entering the picture.

My girlfriend and I were both born in Massachusetts, so I think she feels a need to be "loyal" to the home team. I don't. I'm a Broncos fan. I do have that "home town" thing for the Red Sox, but the Patriots can get bent.

There are bad calls in every game. My team gets screwed by them all the time. But you know they had 3rd and 10 three straight times and KC couldn’t get off the field. That one call didn’t prevent the defense from making a play on that drive. It didn’t make or break the game. It’s just a lot of sour grapes to pretend it did.

I am duty-bound and compelled to wish for the Chiefs to FAIL at all times.

And I KNEW that the Chiefs would eventually Chief, Reid would Reid, and Belichick/Brady would do what they do.

And it was glorious imagining the Arrowhead Crowd, shuffling out, dejected, after having their hopes raised over and over in the game ... only to have it end in brutal, soul-crushing fashion.

Their tears are sweet ...

It’s schizophrenic—a couple of plays, then a couple minutes of ads, a few more plays, more ads, and so on. 60 minutes of football and over 2 hours of ads. The 2-minute warning is just another chance to air more ads. It doesn’t have to be this way and the fans have swallowed to much BS to allow this. The officials have always played a big role in determining who wins. Too many rules, many for safety, in an inherently violent game.

Lifelong Ram fan, but calling it quits with the NFL. Luckily, I’m a soccer fan, too, and can watch a game in peace, (for the time being).
