(2,117 posts)Last year's AFC Championship game when the refs called phantom penalties on Jacksonville and nothing on the Shitriots was the last straw for me. I refuse to watch a Super Bowl involving this cheating team.

(90,335 posts)... no ruffing the passer and it gave NE a new set of downs on 3rd down and 10.
I would watch the SB if and Rams had gotten there without REALLY pivotal calls that made a difference in the game

(17,984 posts)I'll admit that, although I was rooting for NE, that particular call was totally bogus. And there was that first pass completion call that was suspect as well.

(90,335 posts)... atheletes in the NFL and the play calling is second to none.
But damn, I don't like the refs in the games that make a difference.
If it was 2nd down and 10 and they got a new set of downs then o well ... but ah... I'm here in KC ... butt hurt.
They were entertaining no doubt

(5,304 posts)I'm happy for you. I remember when my 49ers were on top for so many years and I never worried about anyone hating them. And now that we've sucked for so many years now I still love them. True fans love their teams in good years and bad. Congratulations for all your great years. Don't worry about haters like me. It's really envy more than hate.

(60,013 posts)one gets really spoiled. Bruins, celtics, Red Sox, Patriots - they are always competitive - they can afford to be. Still - when one gets hooked on teams from the time of being a young child, watching games with one's grandfather or father, it goes pretty deep.
What I don't like is when politics gets conflated with sports - sports can sometimes be a nice refuge from politics, especially now.
But...I don't take any of it for granted - there are so many variables, injuries, etc - for me today, this was like a totally unexpected birthday present - I was texting with my brother and pals....a nervous wreck.

(13,616 posts)byt it is almsot like someone knew that they had to keep the old trump friend (brady) and the young white kid (coach of the rams). heaven forbid we have a black QB, and new Orleans, huh, that city that dared to complain. If there were nto two stinkign calls in both games, I coudl write this off, buy I have news for certain people that wail when mnrties get ahead, but gladly ea from connectiosn aka privelege, the time will come when NOBODY wants to watch you.

She KNOWS this, she did it to rile me.
It's not even the Trump connection. That would be enough, but to me, he is an asshole and a half without Trump even entering the picture.
My girlfriend and I were both born in Massachusetts, so I think she feels a need to be "loyal" to the home team. I don't. I'm a Broncos fan. I do have that "home town" thing for the Red Sox, but the Patriots can get bent.

(90,335 posts)... it was an obvious bad call ... a horrible one.
BlueTsunami2018
(3,490 posts)There are bad calls in every game. My team gets screwed by them all the time. But you know they had 3rd and 10 three straight times and KC couldnt get off the field. That one call didnt prevent the defense from making a play on that drive. It didnt make or break the game. Its just a lot of sour grapes to pretend it did.

(33,643 posts)I am duty-bound and compelled to wish for the Chiefs to FAIL at all times.
And I KNEW that the Chiefs would eventually Chief, Reid would Reid, and Belichick/Brady would do what they do.
And it was glorious imagining the Arrowhead Crowd, shuffling out, dejected, after having their hopes raised over and over in the game ... only to have it end in brutal, soul-crushing fashion.
Their tears are sweet ...
That said ... LETS GO RAMS!!!

(33,643 posts)At least you get a chance to match a FG happening on the first possession now. That seems reasonable to me actually.

(2,957 posts)Its schizophrenica couple of plays, then a couple minutes of ads, a few more plays, more ads, and so on. 60 minutes of football and over 2 hours of ads. The 2-minute warning is just another chance to air more ads. It doesnt have to be this way and the fans have swallowed to much BS to allow this. The officials have always played a big role in determining who wins. Too many rules, many for safety, in an inherently violent game.
Lifelong Ram fan, but calling it quits with the NFL. Luckily, Im a soccer fan, too, and can watch a game in peace, (for the time being).

(33,643 posts)and possibly booth-reviews of certain penalties ... at least in some situations.
'No calls' though ... I'm not sure they're EVER gonna go that far. Though I think they SHOULD, I doubt they will.
moondust
(19,972 posts)allow the booth to stop play when they see something obvious the refs miss. Show the refs the video and treat it like a regular review.

(35,432 posts)This "we're underdogs" bullshit really pisses me off. They weren't the best team during the regular season, but because they play in the easiest division in the entire NFL, they can use the season to prepare for the playoffs.
