NEW STORY: Kamala Harris is running for president. Her slogan: "Kamala Harris For The People." First event: In South Carolina this Friday -- not Iowa or NH. My story on one of -- if not the -- most viable presidential campaigns by a black woman in history

(24,122 posts)as long as she refuses to court Wall Street campaign donors and swears off corporate PAC money. That, I believe, is the key to victory.

(90,335 posts)... should be the indicator of who will be supported with passion vs an also ran.
The donations can't be botted either if the single person is taking into account (not just the number of 27 dollar donations)

(24,122 posts)between looking IN touch and OUT of touch, between running a populist campaign and a status quo campaign... ultimately, between winning and losing. Let history be her guide.

(3,259 posts)I normally have someone at the top of my list as candidates start to announce. Right now my list looks like this.
1) Warren/Harris/Gillibrand
4) Any others

(3,259 posts)I hope you get someone who will even top her on your list. Not knocking Warren. I just think the field might be amazing as the dust settles.

(21,563 posts)On the first media outlet to write an article asking whether she has a likability problem?
bigtree
(85,989 posts)...but she's no political neophyte.
Sen. Harris is very relatable, and as I said here earlier, has the ability to make complicated issues conversational.
Her responses on nonsense like the 'likability' canard will be priceless, I'm betting.

(85,989 posts)..if you can manage it.
See if you can find a campaign office nearby, or one in the making. Seems a perfect time to try and get onboard.

Just a matter of sussing out Harris against the other two. Beto is a political star. Biden, well he is Biden.

(575 posts)I am a voter who doesn't look to vote for a certain kind of candidate: i.e. woman, minority, ect.
I just go for whoever I feel is a good person to be President.
While I am a progressive I do like Joe Biden. I guess I just feel - regardless of his centrism - would be a great President.
I also like Sherrod Brown.
But, the candidate that I really feel drawn to is Kamala Harris. I have since there has been buzz about her. I've seen her on committees and she rocks.
She is smart, tough, knowledgeable about whatever subject, policy, ect,. she is dealing with.
She also has class and humor and decency.
She would heal the damage done with our allies. She would repair the damage done to our government and institutions.
And she would do a fantastic job.

(6,137 posts)her genuinly sincere and yet clever approach is going to make it difficult for gop to smear her. She is a living definition of the american dream and a potent antidote to trump. Media will be obsessed with her denying trump any meaningful coverage.
