Please check in your area to see how you can help. There are also funds being raised to help with rent, mortgage, utilities basic services. We owe them for being pawns in this game. We took two large boxes of food to the OKC food pantry over the weekend. They are distributing the food today at the fair grounds. Seems appropriate for MLK day, he would be so happy with this.
Don't just give it lip service, help them!

There are federal workers all over the country. The least we can do is feed them. No one should ever go hungry.

(12,265 posts)I am glad you posted the national sites. But a lot of people forget these employees are all over the country. They think they are just in DC. We have a ton of them at the bases and in OKC and other areas of Oklahoma. It also reminds the right wing that people in their own state are hurting. I sent a letter to the editor of the local paper as well.

(1,765 posts)At work today we have some employee's volunteering for MLK day of service. I believe we have some volunteers at the Food Bank and here in the office there were a bunch of us putting together soup pots.
The TX grocery store chain HEB is HQ here in SA also regularly donates tons and tons of food to the local food bank and they also accept donations in the store. You can also check with your local grocery store to see if they also partner up with your local food bank.
