This is, after all, a party that nominated and elected Donald Trump whose only meaningful contribution to American politics before launching a campaign was championing a racist conspiracy theory, who was recorded bragging about assaulting women, and who maintained his partys backing after defending white nationalists who marched in Charlottesville.
Its a party that tolerated Rep. Steve Kings antics in Iowa and Paul LePages antics in Maine. Its a party that welcomed the likes of Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond after they abandoned their Dixiecrat background. Its a party that too often continues to target voting rights, too often uses feminist as an insult, and recently allowed the Violence Against Women Act to lapse.
Nancy Pelosi does not want our party to look diverse? The sooner Republicans stop blaming the House Speaker, and start owning up to their record, the better.

(16,469 posts)Is it any wonder why the GOP LACK diversity?
Their attitudes towards African-Americans, Asian and Hispanic groups, Women, the young leave little to be desired.
Their 2012 Autopsy told them nothing. The drubbing the GOP took in 2018 should be a wakeup call as to what is going to happen in 2020.

(46,016 posts)It's Pelosi's fault for not allowing racists into our party, so they have to become Republicans.

(56,356 posts)at least all the ones worth electing. Not one candidate I'll have any problem whatsoever, in the biggest field I've ever seen.
If that leaves him in a room full of guys who look and sound like him and its our fault I can live with it.
And that room gets smaller every day.
