Columnist explains how the Republican party switch to the Pro-Russia party

Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell explained how the GOP is starting to function more like a pro-Russia party with every passing day. President Donald Trump is known to have a cozy relationship with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, but that may now extend to the Republican Party, according to one columnist.

“The Grand Old Party has quietly become the pro-Russia party — and not only because the party’s standard-bearer seems peculiarly enamored of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Under Republican leadership, the United States is starting to look an awful lot like the failed Soviet system the party once stood unified against,” Rampell wrote.

Once upon a time, Ayn Rand-reading, red-baiting Republicans denounced Soviet Russia as an evil superpower intent on destroying the American way of life.

My, how things have changed.

The Grand Old Party has quietly become the pro-Russia party — and not only because the party’s standard-bearer seems peculiarly enamored of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Under Republican leadership, the United States is starting to look an awful lot like the failed Soviet system the party once stood unified against.

Supposedly middle-class workers — people who have government jobs that are supposed to be stable and secure — are waiting in bread lines. Thanks to government dysfunction and mismanagement, those employed in the private sector may also be going hungry, since 2,500 vendors nationwide are unable to participate in the food stamp program while the government is shuttered and unable to renew licenses for the Electronic Benefit Transfer debit card program.

Why? Because of the whims of a would-be autocrat who cares more about erecting an expensive monument to his own campaign rhetoric than about the pain and suffering of the little people he claims to champion.

But then it's also massively curious how republicans, who claim to be christian, submissively embrace a lying, cheating, adulterous, draft-dodging casino hustler as their lord, savior, leader, and "commander." Perversely peculiar.

The GOP was virulently against the Soviets because of their Communist, anti-religious society. They were also the biggest threat against US global power. Russia today bears very little resemblance to the Soviet Union back in the mid-20th century. They are now a capitalist society run by oligarchs, and they have become much more openly religious. These are things that the GOP would love to see the US become. They want to have full control of all aspects of government. This shutdown may be the first salvo in attempting to privatize more government functions.
