Give it a rest

For all those sniffing around AOC and any trying to split hairs on Democrats and bred conflict within the Democratic Party: *PAY ATTENTION* the republicans and trump have just banned transgender people from the military, are making federal employees work for free and are going to spend billions on a wall that will cost billions to maintain, that does nothing.

Let’s stop hair-splitting and the 2016 proxy battle (subbing different names for the same fight): while many of us are fighting with each other over who is the most pure, best Democrat, the republicans are busy working away to turn our world into a dystopian hellscape.

Let. It. Go. And focus all that effort into defeating the Republican Party.

That deserve an open discussion. Never forget that we need trump and other republicans out of office before we can move forward on any policy or party plank.

At the end of the day, Democrats most take the as many state legislatures and governors and both houses of Congress and the presidency to make and solidify real progress and make changes permanent.

And yes, we need more discussion about the corporate donor influence in the Democratic party. The pressure they put on legislators to back off on easing pharmaceutical drug prices, or public healthcare.

I find one gets shut down rather quickly in here when one brings up these subjects. That or "now's not the right time" argument that ironically works for them anytime. I think we can chew gum and walk at the same time.

The party's slow and steady tip toeing to the right as the Republicans shift towards outright fascism. While I understand not demonizing candidates that are established to run already, right before an election date, but surely there is room to debate the stances of candidates when the race to represent a particular district is still to be decided. Look how much life and energy AOC has brought into the party. She is the exception to the rule. She won DESPITE the DNC money machine backing the establishment Democrat. At the very least, stop with the putting thumbs on the scales for the preferred don't-rock-the-boat veterans. We need more like AOC, not less!

No more proxy wars. While we are fighting, republicans are reshaping our society and destroying our institutions and trust in government.
Fighting for the “best Democrat” is a fruitless and fool’s task right now. Those are battles for when we have the luxury of time and motive, which we do not have right now.

Of AOC. I used it as an example of attitudes and talking points that are leading Democrats down a self destructive path in which, while we are busy eating our own tale, republicans are busy setting everything we hold near and dear on fire and burning the world down around us.

We need to focus on the issues in front of us now that are far more important.

When the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, did we quit? NO! (Sorry, that's the image I got.)

We got killed since 2010. New blood in our party means new energy, new ideas, and new excitement. We need to replace not only Repubs, but SOME of our party's fossils too (See the Onion's take on AOC.). Being lefties means having open minds and youthful thinking. We're the antidote for Grassley, Hatch, McConnell, and the rest of the Pleistocene Era. Some of these folks have died, and just don't know it.

We also need younger people who have 40+ years to live--not just for their years of service, but so they have a stake in the future--caring about climate change, alternative energy, and future generations.

Pelosi can keep her leadership. Experience matters, but so does diversity. That's what makes us a great party, so everybody, get along.

New ideas and perspectives are critical to the future of the Party. I honestly and completely agree.
I am in no way asking anybody to compromise on their principles or capitulate to anybody.

What I am saying is no one gets to air their ideas for a fair and honest debate in this environment.
If we cannot, at the very least, agree to defeat trump and republicans, not just in DC but in state legislatures across the country, than we have lost before we even really started.
We will not convince people we are the right people to lead the nation if we are name-calling and attacking each other as much as we do republicans. It does not inspire confidence or trust. Something our nation is in desperate need of right now.
