Trump: I've told Sarah Sanders "not to bother" with press briefings

Trump: I've told Sarah Sanders "not to bother" with press briefings

President Trump said in a Tuesday tweet that he's directed White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders "not to bother" with press briefings because "certain members of the press" cover her "rudely" and "inaccurately."

"The reason Sarah Sanders does not go to the "podium" much anymore is that the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press. I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway! Most will never cover us fairly & hence, the term, Fake News!"

The big picture: The current 35-day streak without a press briefing from the White House podium is the longest on record since the tradition started during President Bill Clinton's administration, according to ABC News' Alex Mallin.

One less outlet for the Trump admin to spread their message, and it makes them look like even bigger cowards. If they're ok with that, whatever.

Or is everyone in the media still too cowed by the prospect of Trump tweeting something mean at them to stand up for themselves? Their supine acceptance of this nonsense tells the public that the media don't care about doing their jobs. Why should citizens care, then?

The reason to insist on continued briefings is this:

To lay down the marker that the people have the right and duty to question their president in a democratic society.

That's why the daily exercise is important.

Only autocrats get to rule in secret.

This is why reporters must show up every freaking day, on behalf of the American people's right to know. They are the watchdogs of our liberty. And it's no easy job. This WH demeans them at every possible opportunity, forcing them to scream questions from a distance.

I know it's not important but why is "podium" in quotes? That usually means something like "the so-called podium."

The bigger picture: Why does the press have the nerve to ask her questions??

against the American people. Over 8,000 criminal counts of lying to the American public (and in proxy, to our House of Representatives too). Every lie rump has directed SS to utter, every falsehood, etc. should be exposed for the lie is truly is, and they held solely accountable.

Remember Ted Koppel's late night show back in the Iranian Hostage situation?

MSM could do a show every night on the Federal Employee Hostage situation. They could do interviews with those impacted by the shutdown, Federal employees, people impacted by programs without money and so on. They could focus on what Trump does with his day, how members of his administration waste tax payer money. They could focus on the reality of border control.

This is Day _____ of the Federal Shutdown. ____# of illegal aliens were taken into custody along the Southern Border. ____________________ # of drug arrests were made along the Southern Border. ___________________ of the Dept. of ___________________ spent $________________ taxpayer money on _______________. Mitch McConnell was spotted ___________________.

They could post reporters with cameras all over the border to capture as much as possible. They could spotlight different parts of the Federal Government and show how operations are impacted.

And so on, you get the drift.

The MSM could have a lot of fun with this and really thumb their noses at Trump with reality programming on the shutdown.
