It's the reason why Paul Ryan was mythologized as a budget genius. It's the reason why "racial incident" can still be used to describe things right up to putting a noose around a black man's neck. It's the reason why every MSM source was quick to change their opinion as soon as a white man's account of the situation hit the rounds.


White people and white politicians, who are mostly republicans, will always be given the benefit of the doubt by white (mostly male) newsrooms because they often lack the insight, knowledge, or skepticism to challenge someone that looks like their friend, husband, etc. Even on MSNBC, a Chuck Todd interview with a Republican Senator looks like two bros going out for a beer. Thankfully, mostly everyone else (other than Matthews) on that network approaches these issues with skepticism.

When I watch a show on weekday mornings, I want it to be about news. The Today Show is mostly entertainment, so I haven't seen it in years. I'm not going to deviate from that just to see the Sandmann interview.

I'll be watching ABC tomorrow, and probably from here on out.

Smirky is probably much like Kavanaugh was as a youth, ensconced in his private school and allowed - maybe encouraged - to bully those who are not as fortunate. There are people in this society who are allowed to harass, to be obnoxious, to sometimes commit criminal acts and get pats on the hand. They usually aren't black kids. They're usually people like Smirky and Donald Trump.
