Only the journalist's too thick to pick up on his exact wording.. Vietnam Era Vet.
I stand corrected.. He claims to be a "Vietnam veteran" in the CNN interview.
" And I'm a Vietnam veteran and I know that mentality of "There's enough of us. We can do this."

(32,018 posts)It appears CNN misquoted him. What a mess. Why not just say "Marine veteran" instead of misleading people?

(146,286 posts)Nathan Phillips did not claim to have been deployed to Vietnam. He would not have done so. Like him, I am a Vietnam-era veteran who was never in that country. I was, however, serving in the USAF between 1965-69, which makes me a Vietnam-era veteran. I never claim otherwise, and neither does Nathan Phillips.
The WP was right to correct its error.
