New clean CR being considered in Senate

on Thursday, January 24th.
The proposed CR would reopen government, at least until February 6th.
Even if the clean CRs pass, it’s for just 2 weeks.

Not sure if such a short CR is a good idea.

The public perspective is that Trump and republicans own this shutdown. We may or may not be as lucky if another one starts on February 7th.

We all know that the clean CR is going to pass. We all know that trump will either sign it or it will be a veto proof majority.
The only concern now is, when he still doesn’t have money for his wall on February 7th and government shuts down again, trump isn’t going to say it’s his fault again so who will get the blame for a second shutdown? It’s a hell of a gamble.

I'd support a "clean CR" if it means Fed employees get paid and no wall funding. Progressive Law Jan 2019 #11

But its incredibly unlikely that a deal will be reached by feb 6th. This puts them right back to working without pay again. To me it becomes a toss up on who people might blame a second time. You and I know it’s still trump but are people that smart? I have my doubts.

In this scenario, federal workers will receive pay, and Trump will own the following shutdown. It's a win/win.

Continuing a shutdown. Pelosi should put forward articles of impeachment within the next two weeks.
