She destroyed a President within a month of taking office

(23,370 posts)One of my recollections long ago, was seeing her on CSPAN arguing against the Defense of Marriage Act. I appreciated that a lot. I appreciate her now.

(2,848 posts)I predict approval ratings are going to sink drastically because he will start losing his base. His number was stubborn at 35 to 40. Well now it's going to dip into the 20s. Mark it down you heard it here first. He will be a lame duck... he is broken... all at the hands of a woman.

(2,748 posts)Hoping so, because his ego is taking a huge hit right now, and his usual response to that is childish revenge.

(21,745 posts)This is where the infant will start to "buck" against authority, testing boundaries and initiating dramatic confrontations to seek attention and perhaps even approval of the matron figure.
My biggest fear? A war. A dirty little war (hell, we could stomp out Venezuela in a few hours) would be just the thing to bring his Nationalist base back in line.
My guess is we will trade Ukraine, Tibet to Russia and China and we will get Venezuela.

(54,352 posts)We could never "stomp out" Venezuela within a few hours. Much of Venezuela is jungle, and they have almost as many guns per capita as we do. It would become another Vietnam overnight, with the added bonus of burning oil wells darkening the skies of the Western Hemisphere for months.
But fear not. Republicans don't attack countries they know will shoot back. They only attack countries they know will not shoot back (like Grenada) or countries they THINK won't shoot back (Iraq was a major "oops" ). Common sense is NOT the main reason no Republican president has yet invaded Iran. For that matter, if some company that manufactures body bags is suddenly identified as a major Republican donor, get ready for our next useless invasion.

(5,382 posts)While the rest of the US and the world were wondering if Trump was mentally competent as a person, and had potential as a POTUS, long before that, she decided he wasn't the right person for the job.
While we have all been asking what is wrong with Trump, will he ever come good and get serious, what is the next distraction he will serve up, and stood in awe of his clownishness, Nancy has been plotting. Plotting and planning. Now is the right time for her to strike.

As a mom, I've gotta say, he struck me as a spoiled, poorly-raised, undisciplined brat-child. An overly coddled, tantrum-throwing five-year-old in a bloated-old-man-with-a-phony-hairdo costume. I find myself wondering if ANYBODY EVER told him "NO." And she does it with such class and poise, without losing her temper, staying cool, calm, and collected.

(81,220 posts)She's really rather magnificent, isn't she? Makes me proud! Proud to be a woman, proud to be a Democrat. That's all it takes to put trump in the corner. He's outmatched, out-classed, and definitely out-played. And he's DEFINITELY earned this!

(54,352 posts)It was obvious the day after the election that she would be the next Speaker.
But she didn't crow, hold daily press conferences, or start making banner headlines.
She kept a low profile, working her behind-the-scenes strategy, and hit the ground running with both barrels blazing as soon as she was sworn in. She kept Trump thinking he would be dealing with a wimp, and instead he got confronted with a saber-toothed tiger who hadn't eaten in a while.

(58,785 posts)with reestablishment of the critical function of the House as a check on presidential power. Nancy's great, but she hardly did it alone. All of us who voted for a Democratic majority did our part, and now those we elected are at battle.
But America is still in the clutches of corrupted Republicans who are increasingly bent on permanent right-wing takeover, keeping power by destroying the power of the vote. If Trump really did drop dead from frustrated rage this morning, it wouldn't change that in the slightest.
Next fortresses to take, the senate and the presidency.

(38,958 posts)Speaker Pelosi did a brilliant job in pushing back against an out of control situation, but if he was destroyed and I am not sure that is the case, he did it to himself.
