.@RepMaxineWaters: We dont play threats. We are together. The Democrats are solid and were not going to be intimidated by (Trump). We want legitimate negotiations to try and make sure that we never put the American people or our workers into the situation that we put them in.

(37,648 posts)have now seen the light. Somehow I doubt it. But I hope so. That was a very unsupportive thing to do, at such a critical time, and not taking into consideration the dire straights of the federal workers, or the country, IMO. Perplexing. Maybe they did it appease their districts, knowing beforehand their votes weren't needed.

(238 posts)I'm 74 yrs old, born and reared in rural South Mississippi back when if anyone had said a black man would be President you'd have been thrown out of the place.
I LOVE Maxine, AOC, Kamala, "Pocahontas" -- they remind me of my sweet, departed grandmother and mother, and, my wife and daughter: Uppity, kick-ass women who don't know their place and fear no one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are lily-white Southerners, descendants of slave owners and Klansmen.
My grandmother was a suffragette and invited black and white civil rights workers to stay in her Mississippi home. When the Klan threatened her, she strapped on a pistol and leaned a loaded shotgun by the front door. She used the shotgun a couple of times.
My mother marched in Birmingham and Jackson behind MLK. When her Klansman cousin raised hell with her, she threw him out of her house.
My wife and daughter have marched time and again, carrying signs that read "I can't believe we are still protesting this shit!!!"
Come 2020, a woman -- a "mere woman" -- will whip Trump like the mongrel cur dog he is and I'll celebrate like never before !!!!
