Wanted the president to talk about the unprecedented level of obstructionism on behalf of Republican

People really don't understand all the progress we've made.

And yet, we could've done more were it not for the Republicans.

The president needs to explain this to the American people!!

Pretty sure President Clinton an others have touched on that. Would be nice if Obama said it too. GreenPartyVoter Sep 2012 #1
That's not the purpose of his speech. It's a "forward" positive speech, giving hope. Honeycombe8 Sep 2012 #2
He mentioned it, in passing, though I don't recall the words used arcane1 Sep 2012 #3

Discussing details or being negative is not what this speech is about.

It's for OTHERS to do the negative thing and point out what he's done. Which they have done.

between the party conventions. Republican's seem to be the party of negativity these days. I think the tone of our convention, and it's purpose (not just to fire up Dems but to get independents to vote for Obama again) was to draw a parallel. Besides, you end up sounding like a whiner complaining about the obstructionism. If you pay attention to politics, you know what's been going on with the Republicans. I think that if the repubs continue with the negativity and we continue with the positivity, we will win out.

among the speakers. That part of the message was delivered by Clinton and some others.
