(6,671 posts)... we were discussing how much we could afford and if we should give it directly to Obama or one of the super PACs.
I think we'll give $100, too. Maybe we'll can afford a little bit more. We have to think about our 3-year old and his future.

(22,000 posts)I wish I could do that. I have donated twice already and might be able to make one more small donation before the election. This summer was not good for me and neither is the fall. I feel terrible not being able to donate more.

(82 posts)bit helps. I can't donate like I did in 2007 either. So I do call banking and enjoy that and feel I've accomplished something and given a hand for this election.

(205,237 posts)In the past two elections, all I could give was my time so I walked into my congressman's campaign headquarters and asked what I could do. They need volunteers to make GOTV calls, answer phones, knock on doors and hand out information. I did all that, made me feel like I was making a difference. I even offered rides to the polls for senior citizens, had a lot of them on my "turf" and they're serious voters. This time around I can afford to donate, but there's nothing like getting involved...
Welcome to DU, kathman-duzi! It's great to have you with us!

(22,000 posts)I'm not too far off so I might still be able to do it.

(3,147 posts)I know my energy for volunteering has been declining since '04 when I worked several days a week to Redefeat Bush. This year I am making monthly donations. i'll try to do phone calls from home closer to the election. And I'm a poll worker.

(1,108 posts)I donated $100 too. I can't really afford it, because my husband has some medical issues right now and no insurance, and I need expensive dental work. On the other hand, I feel I can't afford not to donate, since Romney has virtually unlimited funds.

(22,000 posts)Come over to Korea and get it done. It's cheap here. I'll introduce you to my dentist. Your husband probably could get treatment here as well.

(47 posts)amounts to Obama and the Sherrod Brown campaigns for months. I am on a fixed income, but I feel like this the election of my lifetime and I am probably voting as if my life depends on it this time, because it does.
Please if you can spare it donate to Sen. Sherrod Brown, a true champion of progressive values, a young Bernie Sanders I think.

(3,626 posts)seeing how several people here are disgruntled about some issue or other that wasn't addressed to their satisfaction. Sheesh. He's only one man and had only three days to cram it all in. I suggest at the next convention we dedicate an entire day to each crucial issue, the first to doppelganger pets. It would take some time -- maybe a month or two, but so what?

(234 posts)I donated $200 accidentally by hitting the Donate button twice. But then I thought, the stakes are really, really, really high in this election. The people who spoke at the DNC were brilliant and they and the president made me prouder than ever to be a democrat. So what the heck. I'll tell her in December.
