The kids are way more progressive, and they are voting to reflect that.

9. You can only prune so many branches from a tree

At some point, the tree stops growing. The GOP has possibly reached a point of no return, which would be a good thing. If their own words and actions ultimately alienate enough voting demographics, so as to preclude them from winning an election, they don't get to implement their agenda. Keep sawing, GOP.

14. I think they will return to their roots eventually.

The Republicans I know aren't the caricatures that their pundits and politicians have become. When they abandon the strident rhetoric and careless lies, they may be able to rebuild.

15. Now that they've let the inmates run the asylum

for a while, it might actually be impossible to return to their roots. They've become accustomed to it, and will see any shift toward sanity as flat out betrayal.

The Republicans I know ARE caricatures like their politicians...in many cases far worse than their politicians. My dad swears Bush the Lesser was a bad president because he was too liberal. He also claims it's why McCain lost the election.

Not that that's a bad thing. I'd dearly love to see Alabama, Texas, and Mississippi go blue because the right wingers were too pissed off to vote.

16. They're attempting to balance those losses with ca$h and trash

If an honest discussion of the issues followed by an honestly contested election doesn't yield the desired results, rake in an obscene amount of PAC money from a few select unnamed zillionaires and proceed to carpet bomb your opponent with attack ads featuring blatant lies (medicare lies, welfare lies, national security lies, etc). Fact check fail? No problem, full speed ahead. Sway a few votes back into your column, and repeat the process next time around. Extra added insurance: figure which demographics you don't want voting and take deliberate steps to keep them away from the polls.

13. The PP protestors crack me up

I drive by a PP located in a strip mall every day. On the corner, there are typically 3-4 wingnuts holding up anti-abortion signs. Funny thing is, not one PP in this state performs abortions, as far as I know.
