I always thought is was Mark Halperin who was the asshole of the pair while Heilman was more of a neutral party.

he is rising to the occasion. He's been more gracious than most in his party would ever dream of being. I keep thinking he'll be coming over from the dark side any day now.

and under contract, so he can't really forcefully disagree with anyone. It's supposed to be friendly like, but they gang up on him. Poor man. But I bet he gets paid a lot of money, so hopefully that eases the pain.

acknowledged what an incredible speech he gave. He said something about how he wished his party had someone that good, but........He was very sad.

Schmidt was the senior advisor to the McCain campaign; John Heilemann is a journalist who covers politics for New York Magazine.
