Against my own better judgement, I decided to stand up for my Congresswoman, Haley Stevens MI-11, who today tweeted about the bipartisan work that went into the USMCA. A MAGAt replied to her and said:
"Haley, please let us know how/what the Dems did to make this deal better than what Trump first purposed? Your party keeps saying this BUT doesnt say what they did!"
So I found this article and sent it to the person, which lays out three Democrat additions to the bill:
https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2020/jan/15/why-many-democrats-have-supported-usmca-deal/
Which says:
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., called the House-backed version a "triumph for workers all across America."
One victory he claimed was the deals strengthened labor protections for workers, especially in Mexico. The deal outlines benchmarks that Mexico must meet in order to stay in compliance with the agreement as it makes reforms to its labor laws.
Another victory came in the form of added environmental protections, although a number of environmental activist groups refused to support the deal, as Sanders noted in the debate.
Neal also noted that the House-backed version of the deal removed a clause that would have promised biologic drug companies 10 years of intellectual property protections.
Democrats are hopeful that change will lead to cheaper drug prices, PBS Newshour noted.

So despite my doing the work for the lazy MAGAt, they came back at me and said that these weren't "specifics" of what the Democrats actually did...
So I found the history of the bill on the House site but does anyone know where I might actually find text of what Democrats put in the bill? I can't seem to locate it here...

(21,552 posts)I changed it but I was really looking for info on specific Democrats on the bill as opposed to the Party itself.
I.E. "Nancy Pelosi inserted the text about labor unions into the bill"
or more properly phased "What influence did Democrats have on the bill"?
