You're presuming way too much. IMO, what won't matter after acquittal is what any opposition to Trump does or doesn't do. Trump will be given the keys to dictatorship. He WILL render the next election inconsequential. THAT will be his goal as Dictator. And he'll succeed.

I'm not in the business of being a constant downer, but this is important. The Constitution will be pulled to shreds after the acquittal. That means we should at best expect a rigged election-- so rigged that a landslide Democratic popular win will become a Republican win in the blink of an eye. At worst, Trump will cancel the election.

I'm writing this as my only effective way of going beyond traditional activism and voting to persuade anyone on the fence that this trial is dead serious, meaning that if the Senate acquits, the Constitution dies.
