Well, It Looks Very Likely That the Senate will Vote to Acquit

Frankly, it has looked like that for some time. I think it's a foregone conclusion, really. So, how should we react to that, as Democrats in a presidential election year?

That's simple. In November, the voters become the last check and balance on our government. We are more powerful than any President or any Republican-controlled Congress. All of those people are subject to elections.

So, if you're disappointed in what the Senate does and hate what Donald Trump has done and will do, the next step is pretty obvious. We need to vote in a Democrat as President, and at the same time vote in enough Democratic Senators to regain a majority in that house of Congress. We will also elect every member of the House of Representatives in November.

We have the power to remake our government.

However, we can only do that if we are willing to get out and work in our own states and congressional districts to get out the Democratic vote in numbers that cannot be overcome by election manipulation. It's up to each of us. If each Democrat succeeds in taking one other person who wouldn't normally vote to the polling place who will vote for Democrats all the way down the ballot, we will double our voting results. If we each take two, we will triple our vote.

See how easy that is? One or two people who wouldn't otherwise vote. I can't imagine that each of us doesn't know someone like that.

Now, of course, not every Democrat will do that, so it's up to those of us who have the time and energy to get out even more voters. There are many ways to do that, and your local Democratic Party organization or a local candidate can help you find those ways. So, make a call. Volunteer to do something to increase turnout.

Please!

Virginia seems to be pretty safe on the POTUS vote. I may jump into Abigail’s operation because outside groups are already running ads and gunning hard against her.

They live in fear of their base. Any pivot toward something resembling political progress unleashes the outrage machine. We have lived this way for many years, including the whole Obama presidency. The Republicans need to be crushed and until our entire party buys in we’ll keep moving sideways-to-down. At best.

is for the Democratic nominee, whoever that may be, to win enough electoral votes to defeat Trump.

That's going to be hard to do since Dershowitz essentially told him yesterday that anything Trump does is OK if he feels it's in the national interest. Trump will not feel the least bit constrained about requesting or accepting foreign help in the election. Very little, if anything, has been done to ensure election security. Democratic turnout and numbers will have to be so high that they can't be disputed.

If we do that, we cannot lose. If we do not do that, we are almost certain to lose.

Each of us, as individuals, and all of us, working in concert, can change our direction.

I am looking forward to massive protests, and yes I believe they would help. I would shove the party of tRump noses into it, that we will not surrender to the whims and deceits of McConnell and his cult.

Plus more true information will be leaking out, about this disgusting regime. They will not get out clean from this.

Since he can do anything he wants to do to win re-election (his lawyers reasoning) then how about not even having one, or not allowing a dem on the ballot by executive order? After all, they are all mean, lying, bullying socialists, according to him.

Or, if that's going too far, how about rigging the election like Putin, so the opposition party doesn't have a hope in hell of winning?

After all, he is King Donald the 1st.

I have a feeling there is more to come, but I am unsure of the form it will take. Trump does a lot of sketchy crap. I am very lucky to be in a solid blue district.

I need to “adopt” a red one, and help there
