it's a 2020 election event and EVERY Republican knows exactly how to vote.

but I have been reading that CJ Roberts can call witnesses on his own authority, and that in such a case, a 2/3 vote, not a simple majority, is required to overrule him.

IF that is true, it would appear that we should expect to see Democrats make such a request of the CJ, after giving Senate Republicans a chance to do the right thing themselves by simple majority. Not sure whether or not we can count on CJ Roberts to do the right thing, but if the aforementioned rules are correct, and it does go down this way, it's sure going to be interesting.

And I have to say, it'd be a potentially brilliant ploy by the HMs. Let repukes go on record trying to hide the evidence by simple majority, only to have it come out during the trial anyway. Would play beautifully in our campaign ads.
