The United States is located on the continent of North America. Russia is located on the continent of Asia. I think that that has a lot more to do with plate tectonics and artificially imposed geographic boundaries that some strategic purpose. And ... we have enough ICBMs, long-range bombers, submarines, etc. in our little arsenal that we can strike anyone, anywhere at any time such that being "srategically located" has little if any meaning on a global (or regional) conflict scale.
