The Democratic Party is imperfect. I'm proud to be a member of it.

Four years ago, I didn't imagine that four years hence the Democratic Party would embrace Marriage Equality in its platform. I despaired of Democrats openly embracing the label of liberal. I saw few signs that the Democratic Party had a spine. I guess that's one thing I have to thank the teabaggers for; they've forced the party to stand up to the radical right, to stand up for civil liberties and immigrants and the middle class and even for the poor and disabled.

I know that my party has a ways to go. I know that there's too much corporate money swirling around. I know that the party must stand even taller against the antediluvian forces that dominate the repub party, but I am proud to be a democrat and to support democrats that represent me both locally and nationally.

I've long been proud of the very progressive Vermont Democratic Party, and now I'm proud of the national party.

Over the past three days at the DNC, we saw democrat after democrat stand up and fight back. And most of them were not blue dog dems either. The speaker roster featured more outspoken liberals than moderate or conservative dems. And they spoke to liberals. There was little talk of compromise or the honorable opposition.

There is work to do. We need to move our President and our party on both foreign and domestic policy. I believe we can- if the President is re-elected and if we elect more dems to Congress.

Along with the lyrics, there is a sound recording attached to this posting.
Please give a listen and I would like to hear you opinion. I would like for
President Obama to hear the song. Hope to hear from you soon.

Democratic Party Motivational Song

Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!

We have arguments about pro-life and pro-choice
It my belief that every woman should have her own voice
Some people say that I’m a liberal because I look ahead and not behind
Because I welcome new ideas and try to be gentle and kind

Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!

Don’t say I’m not a Christian because I don’t do as you do
Don’t decide what is good for me and I won’t decide what is good for you
Most democrats believe in God and try to do as he commands
It is not your position to decide where we stand

Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!

Some criticize me because I have different ideology
But I’m also a loyal American and I make no apology
I will work hard and I’m hell bent
To elect a democrat as our next president
A proud democrat, loyal American, well educated and motivated
I will stand up for my beliefs and will not be intimidated
I hear many in the GOP say we need to take our country back
Well, this country belongs to me too, and that is a simple fact

Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!
Say it loud: Democrat and I’m proud!

(I'm convinced we can work through the stalemate
I believe in compromise and I'm not driven by hate)
