in the current world of "OTUS" acronyms. FGOTUS sounds like "forgot us" spoken after three drinks. Or maybe "for goddess" with a lisp.

So First Male ... FMODUS? First Dude ... FDODUS? First Homme ... FHODUS?

I posted a reply to a different thread earlier this week which suggests a possible solution to this quandary:

If the female president is also gay, we still have a FLOTUS!

Michelle takes it for me. I love how she gets involved with the kids and gets them all excited about eating healthy and moving. I also happen to love how genuine she comes across to the people. She is always listening and hugging someone making them smile. I just love her!

I have to throw out a shout to Betty Ford. She was a smart, compassionate, immensely likeable and vibrant person who was very much her own woman and had a tremendous positive effect on the world.

Just had to throw her name out there. One of my favorite professors in college was an expert on the Roosevelts and the Great Depression so I heard some wonderful stories.

If we can choose others not on the list, I'd add:

Eleanor Roosevelt

Betty Ford

Abigail Adams

Grace Coolidge (an animal lover, a fan of Eleanor Roosevelt, insisted we join the war to help defeat the Nazis when over 90% of the country still supported isolationalism, volunteered in the Red Cross and worked to bring Jewish refugees from Germany to the US during WWII -- forbidden by her husband to speak publicly when he was alive)

Lady Bird Johnson

Cindy McCain earned some respect in my book for speaking out for marriage equality and participating in the anti-Prop 8 "NoH8" campaign.

and bake cookies. I'll never forget how that made me feel to have a First Lady that was proud to be her own woman.

And - she tried to take on Healthcare, even tho she was unsuccessful - that was huge!

But - personality wise, I LOVE Michelle.

no woman can know what what Hillary went through during the impeachment and Lewinsky fiasco, to come out with her marriage intact, AND to have her own political career. While I love Michelle, Hillary is one hell of a woman in my book.

some of the same reasons! Both are/have been good mothers, are intelligent and can articulate public policy skillfully.

They just have different skill sets and are in different eras.
