Star Trek turns 46 today and Google is celebrating in their traditional style: with a Google doodle.
The doodle plays on some of the shows traditional plot tricks, including a gaussian-lensed glamour shot of communications officer Lieutenant Nyota Uhura.
The characters, all represented as letters in the Google logo, dont all respond to roll-overs and mouse clicks. But the doodle, run through a series of interactive frames, lets you beam down Capt. James T. Kirk and defeat an alien.

(23,926 posts)I drank free for more than a few nights way back when with that little bit of bar trivia.
Where's that bar? My husband and I once used to do happy hour at a local that showed "Jeopardy" at that time. For every answer you got right before the contestant did, you got a free drink. We got so many free drinks, we had to give them away to other patrons. The bar wasn't making any money so they eventually wouldn't let us play the game after the first two free drinks.

(50,325 posts)and I could say "I knew that" but, in all honesty, I could not remember and did google it, lol. Damn, I guess I am not a true Trekkie but I still love all the original shows.

(81,220 posts)We're MAJOR LEAGUE "Star Trek" fans, and our 20-year-old son has just discovered the various series for himself. At the moment he's getting to know, and appreciate, "Voyager." He's definitely joined the club!
