Spent the whole drive home yelling at my radio

What the hell is up with NPR?! Seriously, spent the whole drive home listening to drivel about how "Obama's speech was weak on details" and how the American people want "Change and Obama just offered more of the same"--I don't WANT a radical new agenda from Obama! I want him to continue what he started... and then I want another Democrat in 2016 who will build on that, and another in 2024 who will build on THAT! I am SICK of Republicans breaking down what we've built! I am sick of seeing the New Deal devastated! The one clip they played from Obama's speech during the segment I heard was his quote about being aware of his failings, the Lincoln quote about falling to his knees... on Diane Rehm this morning, the final word after Diane brought up the fact that Republicans, before Obama had even taken office, said their goal--their main goal--was making sure he wasn't reelected (a stretch from them making it their goal "fail" and not even true to the quote, the coldly partisan "one-term-president&quot , her guest said, "Hey, that's just politics!"

NO! That is NOT just politics! Politicians used to CARE about this Country, whether they had different views of what actually worked to help America, they still CARED! Republicans only care about THEMSELVES!

Fired up? You BET I am... in RAAAAAGE

Are you related to Eastwood?

It's not worth the stress. Change the station. Especially while you're driving. Seriously. I don't want you in my lane.

Even if I tried, I couldn't stomach more than a minute of RW radio bs.

If Hell does exist, this is how I picture it:

Tied up and forced to listen to Limpaugh for eternity!

BTW, I'm on my second beer and counting!

Science they are good at, and the arts and books, etc. - but in politics they never seem to be able to just report the news, or just go after the truth. Its always working some angle or other...I do listen regularly but I haven't "joined", because I'd be calling to rant and cancel about once a month!

and it still hasn't recovered from those years of seeking "balance" by having any wingnut out there able to spew absolute nonsense unanswered.

I used to wake up to it when I had to be up in the morning. The last time was when Stupid was doing his minstrel show around the country trying to get folks to approve of his plan to gut Social Security and get it into the stock market. It was wingnut after wingnut and ended up with the slick and smarmy Ken Mehlman (remember him?). The radio barely survived the pummeling and has been on the local classical station since then. I can stand the Audi commercials more than the unanswered lying.

Maybe in the future when all the wingnuts on the board die off of old age and bitterness, we'll get a network that prided itself on accuracy back. For now, it's worthless.

Fri Sep 7, 2012, 07:43 PM
Sep 2012

"I listen to your program every day on the drive home from work and today, I was thunderstruck by the unfairness and venom aimed at President Obama. He is working against a party that clearly cares more about reelection than about the well-being of the American public, a party that made it their stated goal to stand in the way of every effort Obama put forward to pull us up from recession, a party that single-handedly wiped out our AAA rating by their obstructionist tactics. Your pundit said America wants a bold new vision and that all Obama gave us was more of the same--I for one, want more of the same from President Obama, I want a health care system that won't penalize you for the misfortune of getting sick, I want government stimulus that will actually put people to work rather than rely on corporations that care only about their bottom line, and I absolutely do NOT want more tax breaks going to people who need it the least at the expense of the middle class. Who I do NOT want more of the same from are obstructionists who put party and politics before people. Perhaps a news program called "All Things Considered" should consider the context of the issues like the slow recovery, rather than just parrot the opinion of the Right Wing."

Sep 2012

"I listen to the Diane Rehm Show every time I make the morning drive to work and I never thought that I would hear such pandering as I heard today. I caught only the last few minutes, but in that short time, I heard a disappointed caller make the claim that Bill Clinton would have rammed through the job bill currently before the Congress, which I found very naive considering the toxic political climate that now exists. Ms. Rehm was responsible enough to bring up Mitch McConnell's statement that the goal of the Republican Party was to make Obama a one-term president, however her guest, unanswered, and with the last word, was allowed to dismiss this staggering declaration of intent as "politics as usual!" For shame! Yes, every four years each party wants one of their own in the Oval Office, however, to express this sentiment so early in a president's tenure, and then to let that dictate every vote from then on, becoming the "Party of NO" while America is suffering an economic collapse unprecedented in the lifetimes of many Americans, is unpatriotic at best and should never, in any way, shape, or form, be tolerated or excused by the citizenry of this nation."

I got so pissed at them back in 1999 that I wrote them a nasty letter and have not listened, or donated since. They had a reporter ON THE FUCKING SCENE at the protests against the World Trade meeting in Seattle who said over and over again that the protestors were peaceful but Scott Simon back in DC headquarters kept cutting her off screaming about the one or two idiots who were lighting dumpsters and breaking windows at Starbucks.
