Just Watched 7 Days in May.A Very Timely Movie

Always loved this movie. Have not seen it in years(I think I saw it last was in Bush's 1st term) This film could be made today. It is so timely and the plot,IMO,is not as far fetched as some may think. For those looking for a really good political thriller/drama. You can not go wrong with this one!

Douglas MacArthur who had set himself up as a Potentate of Asia following the end of World War II and the onset of the Korean War. Truman fired him for insubordination and there was at least the potential for this when Truman fired MacArthur's insubordinate ass, b/c MacArthur was VERY POPULAR, much like the general in 7 Days.

Can't remember now who played the Senator whom the Prez delegates to investigate and who is basically kidnapped and held captive by the plotters, but I always thought the Senator stole the show.

The novel by Fletcher Knebel (same title) totally kicks ass. One of my fav political thrillers along with The Tears of Autumn by Charles McCarry, a great 'what-if?' about the assassination of JFK and the brothers Diem.

Basically its a right wing General planning on a Government takeover. Fredric March plays a liberal President who is not very popular. You see hints of the Tea Party and the anti Obama crowd pretty clear.Lots of things that are happening today.

Here is a plot summary.

That is awesome! I love biographies on movie stars, especially from the golden age. Fredric March is one of my favorite actors. Loved him Inherit the Wind,Sign of the Cross, and my all time favorite, Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde. (IMO the best version ever filmed!) PLEASE<let me know when your book comes out.
