(46,436 posts)(we're in San Francisco until Wednesday) but we did have a devastating windstorm that left thousands of homes without power -- some not back up even now. Thank god it wasn't cold yet or pipes would have been bursting all over Southcentral. Last year we had record snowfall -- don't know what to expect this winter with such a freak storm coming so early in the season.
Last Tuesday night was spooky. Winds howling (up to 130 on the Hillside), full moon, brilliant aurora and wires arcing and sparking all over town. We were some of the fortunate ones who didn't lose power (we're on the west side) but our cable and Internet was out until just a couple days ago.

(40,416 posts)And I am running out of heating oil. It's tough being poor. After Mid-July, summer has been very cool. I fear that this winter will be brutal here. Not good for me.
I want this winter to be like last. I haveno expectations that it will happen.
