Chicago teachers are not allowed legally to strike over anything but compensation

There are other more pressing issues that the they want to bring to the bargaining table but the only thing that they can legally strike for is compensation.

The other issues are, "class size, adequate resources such as nurses, psychologists, social workers and aides in the class room. Also, a roll back on testing.

This helps with some questioning I had in another thread. I wonder what the reasoning for this is? It seems like only allowing them to only strike for compensation goes towards making them look bad even if they are striking for other important issues.
