Exclusive: Obama, Romney to speak at Bill Clinton's philanthropic summit

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney are expected to set aside their political differences later this month to speak at Bill Clinton's eighth annual philanthropic summit.

Obama and Romney were invited earlier this summer to attend the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), a summit official said, well before Clinton's Democratic National Convention speech last week where he gave a rousing endorsement of Obama and a detailed attack on the Republican presidential candidate.

Obama and Romney will address separate sessions on September 25, the final day of the three-day summit in New York City that brings together heads of state, business leaders, humanitarians and celebrities to make commitments to tackle the world's woes.

It was not known what topics they planned to speak about.

The article makes clear this is the 8th summit and the invites were sent before Bill's convention speech, so why the nasty comment about Bill?

We need Obama to win.

Having a summit like this at this critical time accomplishes neither.

I think this is an excellent opportunity for President Obama to use actual facts and truth telling to highlight what an incompetent boob Romney would be if elected.

Your typical democrat who admires Clinton or your typical republican who's already suspicious that Romney is a RINO?

No need to discuss campaign issues this is a stage where Obama can proudly show who he is and Romney can...?
Does Romney have any sense of philanthropy outside his church?
