(4,569 posts)There is nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal. These repuke nutjobs will now be desperately trying anything to smear President Obama. Be on your guard, the bullshit will be slinging at us like lightning these next couple months.

(1,513 posts)This is fun. I've never seen such an incompetent campaign by such an incompetent candidate. When Ryan came on I was nervous. He was supposed to be bright, have a command of the facts, and be agile under pressure. Turns out the Beltway press got that one really, really wrong. He looks like he's completely out of his depth and is not much better for Romney's campaign than Palin was for McCain's.
But a couple of things. One, is there are a lot of people out there that have had their minds permanently poisoned with the evil other, Kenyan, Muslim, radical, fascist, soviet, socialist, Marxist Obama thing. I found out about three weeks ago that my ex-wife is among them. We are now not speaking for the first time in 25 years because I challenged her fact free political contentions. I work with a group of people that will vote for Romney because he's not-Obama. They're un-enthused, nervous, and almost despondent. But they're not going to come over into the light.
I'm most worried about the down ballot races. I think Obama will win. It's possible he might win in a landslide. Romney is looking really weak. But what about the Senate and the House?
We, the American people, need a government that can get something done. We need a decisive victory. I don't think we're going to get it. The incumbents are too protected in most districts. Most Senate races are not even competitive. I live in Texas and I haven't seen a single commercial from either candidate. Ted Cruz will probably win without any difficulty. He's completely nuts.
As for the House... well most districts are so completely gerrymandered these days that the Republicans will win in their districts and the Democrats in theirs.
The electorate is now so uniformly ignorant that they no longer know enough to know when they are voting against their own interests or who will be for the kind of initiatives that might help us begin to climb out of this hole we've dug ourselves.
So, this is only so fun. The paralysis will continue. The Republicans will likely maintain their majority at least in the House. So, they'll keep pumping out useless bills that can't get through the Senate. If the Senate goes to a Republican majority then one idiotic bill after another will land on Obama's desk. He can't veto them all.
The stupids are not going to go away because they're very well funded by some very myopic billionaires and a lot of corporations that can't see past the next quarter.
Sigh.
